What is a good diet for all four seasons?
I live in New England I love fruit and vegetables. In the late spring to early fall most diets are easy to follow. When it starts to get bellow zero and snow falls I think Creamy soups (Chowda), heated grinders, and well any thing else that is thick, warm, and hardy. Any suggestions?
And cranking up the heat in the house is not an option! LOL!
Stew would be good–can be chalk full of veggies–one variation I know was from a Japanese friend who got it from an Indian friend–I don’t measure when I cook so what is in it basically is:
cheap cut of beef because this will slow cook–just get it lean or trim it well
Plenty of water (could also throw in some wine if the meat is tough)
black pepper
curry powder
dice up onion, celery, carrot, potato at the very least
towards end put in some minced garlic as well
serve over rice
You can add even more veggies–peas, cabbage, corn, squash, etc.
You can add veggies into lots of things–puree cauliflower, broccoli, etc. and lots of folks can’t taste it.
Lots of frozen and canned fruits you can eat–make fruit salad, fruit pies, add fruit to regular salads.
Lots of folks make spaghetti with a lot of veggies.
Shoot, now I’m hungry!
