main colors and accent colors, fall theme?
I might be moving into my first apartment soon and I’ve been thinking of how I want to decorate it. I absolutely love the fall and Halloween, so I’d like to decorate with fall colors. What colors do you think I should use as my main colors and accent colors? I was thinking chocolate brown and forest greens for main colors and amber, rustic red, and Ivory for accent colors. What do you think? My furniture is cherry wood and black. Is this too many colors going on or do you think this will flow well?
The colors you’ve picked are fine. Try to picture each door or window as a picture frame, the color you paint your wall is the matting that shows off your picture. When you look into the frame each room should complement the next. The picture you see should look good from the room you are in. Do the colors flow from one room to another? For example; I have a similar color pattern in my home, my living room is a rustic orange (think Tuscany) the door in that room leads to the kitchen which is an deep apple green color. These two colors look beautiful together. From the kitchen there are stairs leading to the second floor, the color there is a crimson or deep apple red, again, the green and the red works well together. Funny how in writing it doesn’t sound nearly as nice as in view, but it works well.
