Essential Tips for the beginner smoker
Writing a website full of recipes for barbecue smoker is a task that takes time, even in the best. Me take pride in ensuring that the images I put on my site are of food that I cooked and not a brilliant template purchased on the Internet and I want my recipes to be innovative. What I enjoy most of all is when readers use my feedback form with ideas to improve my site and also to suggest recipes, there is so much creativity out there and benefit only a small amount of it is really humiliating.
It is a two-way, of course, and as I can get some great free recipes barbecue in back and also get a lot of questions whose answers are free. BBQ to cook any number of people is challenging enough, but doing it in a piece of equipment that has never been used before is really asking a lot. But I always respond with my "essential tips" for the novice smoker: –
1. Do a test. Not just to test your BBQ cooking skills, but also when the smoker is new, will be protected with a layer of oil that needs to be cleaned. Like any oven that is important to give a race otherwise the first food does not taste good.
2. Keep the smoker temperature between 230-250 ° F
3. Indirect cooking is so heat should not be directly under the food, put the drip tray here and this will help keep it moist.
4. If is a smoker starts the coals to cool after 60 minutes in order to maintain a steady flow of new coal available and change every 45 minutes
5. Slow cooking is the order of the day and you have to allow up to 90 minutes cooking time per pound of meat
6. Many argue that after 5 hours smoking, smoke flavor added no further so you can finish in oven if desired. (Just wrap food in foil to keep it moist)
7. Do not be tempted to lift the lid of the barbecue too often – just let the smoke
8. Use a meat thermometer to check temperature internal.
9. Practice makes perfect – do not give up after the first attempt!
And this last point is so true, I have been cooking on the grills and smokers for 20 years and still be wrong so do not be too hard on yourself if at first you do not succeed.
